About YES
How does YES work?
Young people sixteen and older attending or wishing to attend a private school work from early June through mid August. They offer quality books on a donation basis door-to-door in your community. During the 10 weeks the students are involved they stay at a local school or church. YES arranges the facility, provides their leadership and food, rents new vehicles for transportation, and provides each student with a safety radio. YES is very safety conscious and is careful about the areas that we work in. If there is a known safety risk in a community we will not go there. The safety and health of our participants is our highest priority.
What kind of Scholarship do participants receive?
The students receive 50% of the donations they receive, and the student leaders receive another 15% collectively. This scholarship is payroll based; students wishing their scholarship to be sent directly to their school often receive a matching scholarship from the school.
Where do participants attend school?
Most participants attend private Christian schools, but some attend public schools. Over half are high-school graduates or Seniors in high-school saving for college. There is no one school or set of a schools that a student is required to attend in order to participate in this program.
How long will YES be in my neighborhood?
Usually only 1 or 2 days. Participants will only pass through a neighborhood once and work in teams of five or six along with a leader making it possible to cover an entire neighborhood in a matter of a couple days, and a city in a matter of a week or two.
Does YES have permission to work in this city?
Yes. YES is a non-profit, religious organization and as such is covered under 1st amendment rights. Where appropriate we give the city a letter of registration and disclose the nature of our work and the participants involved. Because of the nature of our work we are not required to have a solicitation permit in any city. Every student leader has documentation to this affect in their vehicle.
How is your donation used?

65% of your donation goes to the student at your door and to the student leader who trains and manages the team of students in your area. The other 35% of your donation pays for expenses relating to the program such as vehicle rental, inventory, and other miscellaneous expenses. Please note that some expenses such as food are not based on your donation, but your donation helps cover the costs. This program is subsidized by the generosity of those who want to see Christian education more affordable. If you would like to contribute to the YES program you may contact the director in your area for information on getting a tax deductible receipt.
